What you should know

  • For the academic year 2025-26, Haryana offers around 2,185 MBBS seats across ~15 medical colleges (government + private) in total.
  • Among those, the government medical colleges (state run) account for a significant number of seats (approx ~1060* seats across ~8* government colleges as per one source)
  • The MBBS fee structure for government medical colleges in Haryana is as follows (2025 data):
    • 1st year: ~ ₹ 80,000
    • 2nd year: ~ ₹ 86,141
    • 3rd year: ~ ₹ 92,896
    • 4th year: ~ ₹ 1,00,327
    • 5th year: ~ ₹ 63,546
    • Total over entire MBBS course ~ ₹ 4,22,910 for government colleges.
  • There is a “Service Incentive Bond” policy: Graduates from government medical colleges may need to commit to government service or pay a bond (for male candidates ~ ₹ 25.77 lakh; for female candidates ~ 10% less) in some cases.
  • Important: To get admission you’ll have to go through the national medical entrance test (NEET UG) and subsequent state counselling process. Also, the number of seats, quotas (state domicile etc), and cut-offs matter a lot.

What to check / be aware of

  • Domicile/reservation criteria: Government colleges often have state-quota seats (Haryana domicile) plus possibly All India quota seats. You need to check what your eligibility is.
  • Cut-off ranks: The required NEET UG rank/score for getting into government medical colleges will depend on competition, seat numbers, category (General/OBC/SC/ST), etc. The more seats, the better your chances.
  • Bond / service obligation: As mentioned above, there is a service bond in Haryana for government medical college students — meaning you may be required to serve a certain period in government service or else pay the bond.
  • Fee vs private colleges: Though labelled “government”, the fee is still fairly high (~₹ 80,000+ per year) compared to many states. But still lower than many private medical colleges.
  • Campus / infrastructure / location: Newer colleges may have fewer resources or less established reputation than older ones. Always check hospital attached, case-load, departments, faculty etc.
  • Hostel & other costs: Tuition is one part; hostel, mess, extra facilities might cost extra.
